In marriage, the game is both of you (husband and wife) against the world and not against each other. The successes or failures of either party are held by both of you. Lay down your fears and joys to this one person. Make him or her your everything and best friend.
Do not let the world mislead you about making yourself independent, or you are your own person. Certainly, you should be independent, but do not let that get in the way of a solid marriage. Your independence is a foundation and rock to your marriage and not otherwise.
In marriage, you stand as your own person and represent your partner and children. It is giving yourself in, not just for you alone but for all you love. The true beauty lies in having a partner who supports your journey to independence.
Your independence should solidify your marriage and not mar it.
When listening to advice from external sources, filter and adjust it to fit your marriage. Indeed, doubts and pain arise, but look up to GOD and seek guidance. Turn to your partner and express how you feel in a loving way.
I realized that we truly stand on the shoulders of giants. This realization came when I consciously started learning from the marriage and parenthood of my siblings and friends. Marriage is beyond man and woman; it is a nation that embodies many entities. It has to do with parenthood, relationships, and careers. It takes humility to learn about each entity while balancing all, but GOD’s grace is sufficient.
With loving smiles,
