This weekend, my nephew’s visit reminded me of a lesson straight out of the pages of life and maybe a bit of the Bible too. There’s something magical about the childlike spirit: it’s curious, innocent, full of love, and a little bit cheeky.
As soon as my nephew arrived, I knew we were in for a good time. We laughed, played, and shared stories. But just as they were about to leave, he looked up at me with those cute, honest eyes and asked, “Why aren’t you married?”
In a millisecond that felt like time paused, I went through a wave of emotions. I was surprised, then I burst out laughing, and the whole room joined in. My brother even chimed in with a playful “Shots fired!” which made it even funnier. Then my sister-in-law gently told him that maybe he could add it to his little prayer list and pray that my future husband would find his way to me.
For some people, a question like that might have been awkward or even a little uncomfortable. But for me, it was a moment of pure joy. It reminded me just how open and sincere children can be. My nephew had been thinking about it, and he genuinely wanted to know. And that, to me, is the beauty of childlike curiosity. It’s seeing the world through innocent eyes and being unafraid to ask the big questions.
With an awesome smile,
